After sales service and warranty

Like any piece of safety gear, it helps to know what is covered if something goes wrong, and how to get the most out of your warranty.

Your warranty

Helite airbags come with a 2 year warranty as standard. Registering the product within 30 days of purchase on Helite's website extends this to a 4 year warranty. The extension applies to the airbag mechanism itself; the textile and, on electronic models, the electronic components are not covered by the extension. Cartridges carry their own separate 10 year warranty, which we cover in our cartridges guide.

When to contact after sales service

Get in touch with us rather than resetting the system yourself if you notice any of the following:

  • The textile is torn, or the airbag itself is visible or pierced.

  • Cracks, breaks or corrosion on the trigger mechanism or cartridge fitting.

  • The system will not switch on even though it is charged and activated.

  • The saddle strap or lanyard shows signs of wear, fraying or has lost its elasticity.

  • Any other abnormal wear on the garment or its components.

  • You have just had a severe fall and are not sure whether the airbag is still in good working condition.

Using authorised parts and repairs

Use only Helite NZ for repairs and replacements, and only original parts. A non-original part means the correct functioning of the vest can no longer be guaranteed, and the warranty may not apply if the vest has been used in a way that does not match the user guide.

Frequently asked questions

What warranty comes with a Helite airbag?

A 2 year warranty as standard.

How do I extend it to 4 years?

Register your airbag on Helite's website within 30 days of purchase.

What does the extended warranty cover?

It covers the airbag mechanism. The textile, and the electronic components on electronic models, are not included in the extension.

When should I contact after sales service instead of fixing it myself?

If the textile is torn, the trigger mechanism or cartridge fitting shows cracks or corrosion, the system will not switch on despite being charged, the strap or lanyard shows wear, you notice other abnormal wear, or you are unsure of the airbag's condition after a severe fall.
