Terms of service
Last updated: 11 September 2026
These terms and conditions apply to helite.co.nz and to any order you place with Impact Protection Systems Ltd, trading as Helite NZ. By using this website or purchasing from us, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information and forms part of these terms.
1. Who we are
Helite NZ is the trading name of Impact Protection Systems Ltd (NZBN 9429053650764), an official New Zealand distributor of Helite airbag protection products, supplied by Helite SARL (France). We're based in Auckland and can be reached at contact@helite.co.nz or 022 165 9989. You must be 18 or older, or have the involvement of a parent or guardian, to place an order with us.
2. Products, pricing, and orders
We try to keep product information, images, and pricing accurate, but occasionally errors happen. If we find a pricing or listing error after you've ordered, we'll contact you before proceeding, and you can choose to continue at the correct price or cancel for a full refund. All prices are shown in New Zealand dollars and include GST where applicable. Placing an order is an offer to buy; a contract is formed when we confirm and dispatch your order, not when you place it. We may decline or cancel an order, for example if stock is unavailable, fraud is suspected, or an error has occurred.
3. Payment and delivery
We accept payment by Shopify Payments (credit and debit card), Afterpay, and PayPal at checkout; Afterpay and PayPal purchases are also subject to
those providers' own terms. We currently ship within New Zealand only. Orders are processed on business days, excluding weekends and public holidays, and delivery timeframes shown at checkout are estimates rather than guarantees.
Where a product is sold on pre-order, payment is taken in full when you order and the product is dispatched once it reaches us. The expected wait is shown on the product page and in your order confirmation.
4. Your consumer rights and manufacturer warranty
If you're buying as a consumer, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 gives you rights that exist regardless of, and in addition to, any manufacturer warranty, and we can't contract out of them. These include the right to a remedy, such as repair, replacement, or refund, if a product fails to meet a consumer guarantee, for example being of acceptable quality or fit for purpose. If you're purchasing for business purposes, you agree the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply to that supply, to the extent permitted under section 43 of that Act.
Separately, Helite products are CE-certified and come with a standard two-year manufacturer warranty, extendable to four years if you register your product at my.helite.com within 30 days of purchase. This warranty is held and administered directly by Helite SARL, not by Helite NZ; warranty claims should go through my.helite.com or to Helite SARL, 1 rue de la Petite Fin, 21121 Fontaine-lès-Dijon, France. Registering for the manufacturer warranty does not affect your rights against us under the Consumer Guarantees Act.
5. Returns
Change of mind: you can return a product within 30 days of delivery if it's unused and in a sellable condition. You cover the cost of return shipping.
Faulty or not as described: if a product doesn't meet a consumer guarantee, contact us at contact@helite.co.nz and we'll arrange a repair, replacement, or refund under the Consumer Guarantees Act; this right isn't limited to the 30-day change-of-mind window.
Pre-orders: you can cancel a pre-order for a full refund within 48 hours of ordering. After that we have placed the order with Helite SARL specifically for you, so it cannot be cancelled, and the 30 day change of mind return above does not apply to pre-ordered products. If we cannot supply within the timeframe we gave you, we will contact you and you can choose to wait or cancel for a full refund. Nothing in this clause limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
6. Using your Helite product safely
To use your airbag safely and keep your warranty valid:
-
Choose the correct size using Helite's size guide.
-
Airbags are not suitable for individuals under 35kg.
-
Never modify, remove, or tamper with any component.
-
Only use Helite-approved CO2 cartridges of the correct capacity.
-
Inspect your airbag before each use for damage or wear.
-
Store it in a dry, cool place away from heat and sharp objects.
-
Follow Helite's cleaning instructions and carry out an annual safety check, including weighing the CO2 cartridge.
Helite safety airbags are designed and tested to reduce injury risk, but like any protective equipment, they cannot eliminate all risk of injury. Misuse, poor maintenance, or unauthorised modification may affect how the product performs.
7. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent the law allows, our liability for a claim relating to your purchase is limited to the remedies available under the Consumer Guarantees Act, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
Separately, New Zealand's Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) scheme generally provides compensation for personal injury by accident and limits your ability to bring a separate civil claim for compensatory damages for that injury, other than in limited circumstances such as claims for exemplary damages.
8. Website content, privacy, and other terms
All content on helite.co.nz, including text, images, and the Helite and Helite NZ names and logos, belongs to us or our licensors and may not be used without permission. Please use this website lawfully and don't attempt to interfere with its operation or security.
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and any dispute will be dealt with in the New Zealand courts. We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top shows when they were last revised. If you have any questions, contact us at contact@helite.co.nz.
