H-Moov: the backpack that's also an airbag

Most riders carry a backpack anyway. The H-Moov's idea is simple: build the airbag into the bag you were already going to wear, rather than asking you to choose between protection and practicality.

An award-winning design

In 2024, the H-Moov received the Road Safety Innovation Award in the Motorcycle category, judged by a panel that included Philippe Monneret, a 24 Hours of Le Mans winning motorbike racer and director of the EasyMonneret motorbike schools.

Protection built in, not bolted on

Underneath the backpack styling, the H-Moov carries the same protective foundations as Helite's other airbags. It has an 18 litre protective volume and is shaped to cover the vital areas: neck, back, chest, abdomen and sacrum. It also includes Turtle Technology, pairing the airbag with a SAS-TEC level 1 back protector so the back is covered even before the airbag inflates. We cover Turtle Technology in full in a dedicated guide. The airbag is CE certified by Alienor Certification, the same independent body behind Helite's other motorcycle airbags.

Still a proper backpack

The airbag section detaches, so the H-Moov works as a normal backpack when you are off the bike, with an expandable 18 to 23 litre storage capacity, separate from the airbag's own protective volume. It includes a helmet holder, a water-repellent build with waterproof zips, and a rain cover for when the weather turns.

One size, worn over your gear

The H-Moov is one size, built to fit riders roughly 1.65 to 1.95 metres tall, and is designed for both men and women. It weighs 2.6kg and is worn over your existing motorcycle jacket, so it does not require any change to the rest of your gear.

Mechanical or electronic

Like Helite's other airbags, the H-Moov comes in both trigger systems. The mechanical version connects to the bike with a lanyard, and the tether pulls free to trigger the airbag if you come off the bike. The electronic version uses onboard sensors, including an accelerometer, gyroscope and GPS, to recognise a fall and trigger automatically, with no tether required. If you are deciding between the two, our full comparison guide covers the tradeoffs in more depth.

Reusable after deployment

The H-Moov is reusable in the same way as the rest of the range. Both versions use a 60cc cartridge, and provided the fabric is undamaged, you replace the spent cartridge yourself in a few minutes rather than replacing the whole bag. We cover the exact steps in our cartridge guides.

Frequently asked questions

Is the H-Moov as protective as a vest?

Yes. It uses the same protective volume class, the same vital area coverage, and the same Turtle Technology back protection as Helite's vest range. The difference is the form factor, not the level of protection.

Can I use the H-Moov without the backpack section?

Yes. The airbag section detaches from the storage section, so you can wear just the airbag if you do not need the extra storage that day, or if you are riding two-up and sharing the bag.

What size is the H-Moov?

It is one size, designed to fit riders roughly 1.65 to 1.95 metres tall, and is unisex.

Is the H-Moov reusable after it deploys?

Yes. Replace the spent 60cc cartridge with a new genuine Helite cartridge of the same size and the bag is ready to protect you again.

Should I choose the mechanical or electronic H-Moov?

It comes down to the same tradeoffs as the rest of the range: the mechanical version needs no charging and uses a lanyard, while the electronic version has no tether and detects a wider range of situations automatically. Our full comparison guide covers this in more depth.
