Electronic airbag belt worn at the waist that protects the hip and femoral neck in the event of a side fall, aimed primarily at older adults.
Detects a fall in 0.2 seconds and inflates the airbag on the falling side in 0.08 seconds.
Finished in black and grey, in five sizes from S to 2XL.
The belt is reusable. After a deployment it takes two 27cc CO2 cartridges to recharge, sold together as a 2-pack for $199.
Protection that fits into everyday life
A slim belt worn at the waist that stays out of the way until the moment it's needed.

Light enough to wear all day
slim enough to stay discreet

measured at the waist

Reusable after a fall
just replace the cartridges
It reads every movement, so you don't have to think about it
Sensors in the belt measure movement more than 1,000 times a second. When a sideways fall is detected, the horseshoe-shaped airbag on the falling side inflates over the hip, spreading the force around the femoral neck instead of onto it.

Designed for sideways falls
Hip'Guard protects the hip in a sideways fall, the kind that puts the hip in direct contact with the ground. It does not inflate for forward or backward falls.
Once the airbag has inflated, replace the two 27cc CO2 e-cartridges and the belt is ready to wear again.
Made for people with the highest fall risk
Hip'Guard is designed for older adults and people with reduced mobility who are at risk of falling, at home or in care.

At home
Older adults living independently. Worn under a loose top, day and night, including those trips to the bathroom in the dark.

In care
Rest home and aged care residents. Fully automatic, with nothing for staff to switch on. Buckle it and it's working.

After surgery
Falls are a major risk during rehabilitation, just when staying mobile matters most for healing.

Parkinson's
A review of 22 studies found 60% of people with Parkinson's fell at least once, and 39% fell repeatedly.
Parkinson's figures: Allen NE, Schwarzel AK, Canning CG. Recurrent falls in Parkinson's disease: a systematic review. Parkinson's Disease, 2013.
Hip'Guard is not suitable for
- People with normal or quick mobility, or anyone doing sport. Fast, sudden movement can set the airbag off.
- People with advanced dementia (Alzheimer's), who may move, turn, lower or take off the belt.
- Wearing under trousers or against bare skin.
- Wearing in the shower or bath.
Buying for yourself or a parent?
Staying independent at home means being able to move around with confidence. Whether it's for you or someone you care about, Hip'Guard is there for the fall you don't see coming, day and night.

Find your size
Measure around your waist at navel height, over your usual clothes, then match it to the chart below. An elastic band at the back of the belt helps fine tune the fit.

| Waist (cm) | 70-86 | 83-95 | 92-105 | 102-120 | 117-135 |

Tested in the lab, and on hundreds of falls
A meta-analysis of 11 clinical studies found conventional foam and hard-shell hip protectors have uncertain or no effect. Airbags work differently: they absorb the impact before the hip hits the ground.
- 90%
- Less impact force in a fall. Hip'Guard testing by CRITT-SL, an independent French test laboratory, reported by Helite.
- 9 in 10
- Sideways falls detected, with 1% unwanted inflations. Validated by the University of Grenoble-Alpes across 828 falls and everyday situations, reported by Helite.
- 85%
- Impact reduction, below the hip fracture threshold. Virginia Tech (2006) study of airbag hip protectors in general, not Hip'Guard specifically.
Hip'Guard is personal protective equipment, CE certified by Alienor Certification (notified body n°2754) under EU Regulation 2016/425. It is not a medical device. Meta-analysis: BMJ, 2006, doi:10.1136/bmj.38753.375324.7C.
Keep a spare set ready
After a deployment, Hip'Guard takes two 27cc CO2 e-cartridges to be ready to wear again. Keep a pack on hand so there's no gap in protection.
